Trauma and stress are what happens when our systems become overwhelmed, whether by a specific event or life circumstances.

Trauma is real. It’s not just an idea or a feeling of upset. What we call trauma is a physical reaction that becomes part of our bodies, a response to situations large and small. It builds and settles and takes up residence in our tissues over time, expressing itself in our everyday lives. If we cannot adequately process and “clear” these experiences, then aspects of our lives can become unmanageable. Many of the things we suffer with in the physical body can be considered a wake up call for us to do this work.

Working together, using the breath, interoception, and movement, we can allow our natural physiological functions to clean out what was left behind by stress & traumatic events. What results is a new way of being in the world, which positively affects not only our physical wellbeing but our relationships, our creative life, and our work.

Following the trail that the breath leads us on, we discover where in our body there is tension, openness, pain, energy, fear, excitement, and countless other sensations, feelings, and thoughts. Without needing to identify, name, or articulate our experience, the breath can reach us, bypassing the intellect to connect us with the pure experience of what is occurring in the body, mind, and spirit. In this way, the breath connects us with the truth of our felt experience. It connects us to the only time that really matters, the immediate and lived experience of NOW.
